Rules and privacy
How we keep NextStranger friendly, and what we keep about you.
Rules
NextStranger is for people aged 18 and older.
- Be kind. Leave a chat any time with Next.
- Don't share phone numbers, links or social handles. We try to block them, so don't rely on that.
- No sexual content, hate or harassment.
- Report anyone who breaks the rules. Repeat offenders are banned.
Privacy: what we keep
- No chat messages. They go straight to the other person and are never stored.
- A random ID saved in your browser, so we can count daily visitors and apply bans. It isn't linked to your name, phone or email, but it does tell your visits apart, so we treat it as personal data.
- A usage log tied to that ID: visits, matches, how long chats last and how many messages were sent (never what they said).
- Reports: the reason chosen, never the conversation. When several different people report the same ID within a day, it can't chat for an hour, and for a day if it happens again within a week.
- The name and avatar you pick are saved only in your browser and shown to the person you're chatting with. We don't store them.
- Your IP address is used only while you're connected, to limit abuse and tell reporters apart; it isn't saved.
Grievances
